Information on The Ghazal PageThis webzine presents original ghazals in English, with the purpose of publishing good poems and promoting the ghazal as a form in American (English) poetry. You may submit ghazals at any time. I will respond in two to three weeks. I'm also interested in prose on ghazals as a form, the history of ghazals, reviews of relevant publications, and the problems of adapting ghazals to poetry in English. If you have anything like that, please send it for my consideration. The button in the margin will take you to more information. Several years ago, I wrote an essay on the ghazal for LYNX; the essay contains a list of sources. I also wrote a brief essay on a possible rhyme scheme for ghazals in English. When I wrote this essay, I was unclear on the use of the radif and qafiya, so my suggestion is naive. However, I am making it available for whatever interest it may have. I have also collected some links to other web sites relevant to ghazals. I hope you find these sites useful, and if you know of others I haven't included, please let me know. I welcome comments, questions, suggestions and other feedback. You may click here to email me. The small icon of a poet seated under a tree by a stream suggests the Near Eastern origins of the ghazal form. I will use both it and the kingfisher shaman as identifying images for The Ghazal Page. Like the design, texts, and other images on this site, these two images are copyright by Gene Doty. Submitting Ghazals and Prose about Ghazals
